Kamičak – music programme
The successful tradition of musical evenings at our favourite Kamičak fort continues this year. Newly restored, one of the most famous visual symbols of Sinj welcomes the KALAMOS wind quintet, the first band of its kind, and unique in the wider region. The ensemble is composed out of wind instruments which use a mouthpiece (reed): oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bass clarinet and bassoon. The Times called this type of ensemble “the best new music format in the world”. Members of the quintet are all established musicians: Katarina Grubić (oboe, cor anglais), Yaroslav Sadovyy (clarinets), Bernard Homan (saxophones), Rude Mimica (bass clarinet) and Matko Smolčić (bassoon).
KALAMOS was founded in Zagreb in 2013, premiering in the small hall of Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall and in the foyer of the Croatian National Theatre with excellent reception from the audience. Later performances include the summer manifestations in Omiš, Solin, Rovinj and a recital within the International Chamber Music Festival MAGfest in Split. KALAMOS quintet often performs at different manifestations in Zagreb. The performances were well received by local and foreign audiences, as well as the critics.
Some of the compositions they will perform in Sinj include those by G. F. Händel, Isaac Albeniz, Jean Francaix, Henry Purcell, Gordan Tudor, George Gershwin, etc. Residents of Sinj and their guests have a chance to experience a true musical treat. Do not miss your chance to hear these magical notes under the night sky!
