Sinj – A Favorite Destination For Sustainable Tourism
Sustainable tourism – a type of tourism which completely takes into consideration the current and potential future economic, social and environmental impacts, takes care of the needs of the visitors, the sector, the environment and the destination. In a time when we see how unplanned and uncontrolled factors impact the local population, clean air and water, the positioning of our town as an example of sustainable tourism is a great achievement.
The town of Sinj, a finalist of the national European Destination of Excellence – EDEN 2008, which had “Tourism and the local intangible heritage” as its theme, thanks to its membership in the European EDEN network, has the benefit of promotion on the “European Best Destinations” site.
European Best Destinations is an official network dedicated to the promotion of best European destinations. For almost 10 years has offered inspiration to people from around the world on best city vacation in Europe, best sky destinations or Christmas fairs, the most romantic destinations, the best beaches and lots of other content. Every year millions of people vote for their favorite European destinations and determine the trends of future tourism, as well as best destinations to visit in Europe. The latest research by the European Best Destinations organization point to the fact that Sinj, among the population seeking “sustainable tourism in Europe”, is at an enviable third place of the most popular European destinations on Pinterest and that it had an almost 16% global popularity growth on Facebook. In the last few months EBD analyzed the popularity of more than 320 EDEN destinations on social networks, and their examples of good practice, and gave some advice on improving visibility on networks of all destinations.
We are flattered that our efforts have been recognized by the professionals, as well as potential tourists, and we will certainly strive for better, and as always, in harmony with nature.
